- “Je t’aime” wall. This is one of the most visited places in Paris, a place of pilgrimage for couples in love. This wall contains 311 declarations of love in 250 languages! Here you will have a small quest: you need to find the phrase “I love you” in your language, and, of course, take a photo as a keepsake!
- Tertre Square, or, in other words, the Artists’ Square. Many centuries ago, a Benedictine abbey was located here, and today you are welcomed here by cute authentic cafes and enthusiastic artists who draw portraits, caricatures, street landscapes. Here are the most famous restaurants of the hill – Le Consulat, A la mere Catherine, and others, the history of which our guide will tell you with pleasure.
- La Maison Rose – a cute cafe, that you might have spotted in some paintings or movies before. They say that it has been white once. On the ground floor, as a hundred years ago, there is a small cafe. Over the years, Impressionist artists, including Maurice Utrillo, lived on the second floor of the house. According to urban legend, the modernist painter Maurice Utrillo and his friends, one day returning from a feast, repainted the house pink with their own hands. This cafe hosted many famous people such as Albert Camus, Alain Delon, Dalida, and of course, the famous Emily in Paris.
- The Church of St. Peter is a sacred place for Christians, one of the oldest churches in Paris, with which many legends are associated. Did you know that once upon a time there was a pagan temple to the God Mars on this place? Today in the church of St. Peter you can look at the remains of the heritage of the Merovingian era – 4 marble columns from the destroyed pagan temple.
- “Lapin agile“, one of the oldest cabaret in Paris. Like La Maison Rose, which you have already seen, this cabaret was once the favorite place of Montmart bohemia – Picasso, Utrillo, Apoliner and others. Today, French hits are sung here, but once this place was called the “Cabaret of the Assassins”. Yes, you will be surprised by many things during the walk!
- Sacré Coeur Basilica is located on the highest point of the city. You will enjoy the splendor of this white-stone neo-Byzantine-style Catholic church, and inside the church the hand-painted frescoes from bible scenes, stained-glass windows and mosaics inside the Basilica can be viewed for hours. A stunning view of Paris, lying at your feet, which opens up to you at Sacré Coeur, is waiting for you!
- Montmartre vineyard, or so-called Clos Montmartre in the past occupied most of Montmartre, famous French wines were produced here. Some of these wines were worthy of the royal table. This vineyard survived the Hundred Years’ War, the grandiose fire of the 16th century, which destroyed most of the buildings, the Protestant-Catholic wars, and the Great French Revolution. Today, the vineyard no longer reaches the former royal level, but its history and its revival definitely deserve your attention.
- The Mill “Moulin de la Galette” today is an authentique cafe loved greatly by french as well as tourists. Back in the 17th century, there were about 30 such mills in Montmartre, which were used to grind flour and squeeze grapes. In the art of the Impressionists, these mills did not bypass the attention of such artists as Van Gogh, Renoir, Toulouse Latrek. - Le Bateau -Lavoir is world-famous residence of artists and poets on Emile Goudot Square. Originally intended for the placement and production of musical instruments, this building was adapted for the workshops of poor artists. Later, these same artists could rent a small room there. Over the years, such personalities as Van Dogen, Amadeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso lived here. Henri Matisse and Apoliner were regular guests here. Although today you do not see Le Bateau Lavoir in their original form, nevertheless, you are able to see the famous facade preserved after the fire.
